Upcoming Lynchburg City Schools Break Weeks

Plan Ahead for February and March Breaks

By Sandy Wallace February 5, 2016
If your child attends Lynchburg Public Schools, it's time to start planning for the Winter Break and Intervention Days of Feb. 15-19 and Spring Break from March 28 to April 1. All students will enjoy early dismissal on Friday, Feb. 12 and a pair of Winter Break days on Monday, Feb. 15 and Tuesday, Feb. 16. Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 17-19, are Intervention Days, offering additional instruction for some students while the rest of the students are out of school. Students benefit from a smaller student-teacher ratio during Intervention Days and enjoy more one-on-one time with their teachers.

Easter comes early this year on March 27, 2016. The week of March 28 to April 1 is the traditional Spring Break Week for Lynchburg City Schools and all students are out of school. All parents will need a plan to cover child care for Spring Break. Some families use this week as a getaway week, traveling to a mountain resort, the beach, Disney World, Washington, D.C. or another destination. Other families use Spring Break Week to visit family members who live out of town or out of state.

With Winter Break, Intervention Days and Spring Break right around the corner, now's the time to make plans for child care for both weeks. during Maybe you don't work outside the home or can use vacation days to cover the time. Will you plan getaway weeks to somewhere warm and sunny, plan some winter fun on the slopes, schedule a museum hop vacation or stay around town and enjoy some down time?

If you work and can't get time off, your child may spend time with grandparents or other relatives, attend day camp at the Y or a local child care center, enjoy School's Out days at the Daniel's Hill or Diamond Hill Center or attend WonderCamp at Amazement Square.

If your child currently attends a child care center or family day care home for afterschool care, the easiest option may be to verify whether your child can spend the day during the weeks school's out.

Register now for a bundle of ten School's Out days at the Daniel's Hill Neighborhood Center, located at 317 Norwood Street, or Diamond Hill Center, located at 1005 Seventeenth Street.
