Virginia State Parks Get Outdoors Challenge: Earn Free Pass

By Sandy Wallace May 29, 2018

The Get Outdoors Challenge is in full swing at Virginia State Parks. Visit five different Virginia State Parks between May 19 and June 30 and you will earn a one-year Virginia State Parks Passport* that also covers parking fees at all Virginia State Parks. The Get Outdoors Photo Contest is also running until June 30.

Here are the rules from the Virginia State Parks website:

  • Only one pass per address will be awarded.
  • Visits must log entries into our Virginia State Parks Trail Quest application no later than midnight (EDT), July 5, 2018. Those not already signed up for the Trail Quest program must do so before they can enter park visitation information.
  • Current Trail Quest participants needn’t visit five additional parks. They may log a park they've already visited, and the new date will count towards this challenge. The only requirement is that five parks be visited during the contest period.
  • While Virginia State Parks has a relationship with Breaks Interstate Park and Natural Bridge, they aren't Virginia State Parks and will not count as visited parks.
  • For this challenge, Shot Tower is considered part of New River Trail State Park, not a separate park.
  • Participants who already have an annual pass and earn another in this challenge will get a year added to their current pass’s expiration date. Participants with a lifetime pass may give an annual pass earned in this challenge to someone else. The pass is otherwise non-transferrable.

* Households completing the challenge will receive a $66 gift certificate redeemable for an annual pass or an overnight stay in a Virginia State Park.
