Online Registration Closes Sept. 21 for Amazing Mile Children's Run

There are many ways to promote a healthy lifestyle with your kids. Lynchburg is a runner-friendly city, with many road races suitable for children's participation. The largest children's running event is the Amazing Mile Children's Run, which will be held at Amazement Square on Friday, Sept. 26. Online registration for the event closes Sept. 21. The 1/4 mile event for ages 0-5 has already capped out at 150 participants. Registration remains open for the 1/2 mile event for ages 6-9 and the 1 mile event for children ages 13 and under. Paper registraion will be available until 5 p.m. on race day, participatant space permitting. But why take a chance? Register online now and encourage your child to run for fun. Running is a great way to have fun with the family while focusing on fitness. October local running and walking events include: the Ducky Dash Fun Run & Derby on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at Peaks View Park, Walk to End Alzheimer's on Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. in Wyndhurst, Freedom 4/24 Run For Their Lives on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. at Lynchburg College, John A. Stephenson Memorial Youth Run on Oct. 18 at 9 a.m. in Riverside Park, Habitat for Humanity Run/Walk on Oct. 18 at 9 a.m. at Sweet Briar College and I Am Woman 5K for girls and women only on Oct. 25 at 8 a.m. at the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center. You'll find plenty of runners every day on the paved Blackwater Creek Trail and other local trails. So lace up your shoes and give running a try this fall.
