Apples, Apples and More Apples

By Sandy Wallace September 26, 2014
Fall is apple time in Central Virginia. With apple orchards in Amherst, Bedford and Nelson counties, you don't have to travel very far to find fresh apples of every variety. Some orchards offer pick-your-own apple days and apple festivals. Many orchards also offer fresh apple cider, pumpkins and other fresh fruits and vegetables. At Morris Orchard, you'll even find apple slushies and apple cider donuts. Some orchards also offer their apples at local farmers markets. Here's a line-up of local apple orchards with addresses and phone numbers for each. Call to check days of the week and times your favorite orchard is open and make plans now to celebrate fall with fresh apples from a local orchard.
