Happy Friday! Memorial Day weekend is finally here, the unofficial kickoff to summer. School will be out before you know it and summer beckons like a blank slate. Family friendly events in Lynchburg and the surrounding area this weekend including: Memorial Day observances at Monument Terrace and the National D-Day Memorial, special activities at all Virginia State Parks, "The Wizard of Oz" presented by Holy Cross Regional School, Lynchburg Hillcats at home, Spring Family Farm Day at Yoders' Farm, fun activities at Amazement Square, shopping and dining at Lynchburg Community Market, Forest Farmers' Market or the Old Mill Artisan Marketplace and more. Spend a day at Riverside Park and enjoy the Sprayground together or visit Ivy Creek Park and fish from the dock - be sure to bring your fishing license. Take a road trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway or visit the Green Valley Book Fair near Harrisonburg.
