July is Parks and Recreation Month on the Blackwater Creek Bikeway

Find Your Family Fun® and Celebrate Parks and Recreation Month in July!

July is National Parks and Recreation Month. Enjoy the great parks and trails in Lynchburg this month. Bike riding is super easy and fun on the Blackwater Creek Bikeway. The paved trail is wide and flat, perfect for kids of all ages.

Blackwater Creek Bikeway is one of Lynchburg's most popular walking, running and biking trails. The Bikeway can be easily accessed from the Ed Page Entrance off Langhorne Road, where the Awareness Garden is located.

The paved Bikeway is a great place for families to enjoy being outdoors together. In addition to the paved trail, there are many trails going into the woods just a few steps off the Bikeway. Check out Blackwater Creek Bikeway this month and enjoy National Parks and Recreation Month.

Try to spend 15 to 30 minutes each day participating in active, outdoor time. You can hike, ride bikes or just play a game of ball in your own back yard. Spending time outdoors helps the kids burn off some of that sitting-all-day energy. Start this week and commit to spending time outdoors every week during summer -- every day if you can.

You'll find information all of the area's parks in the Lynchburg Virginia Parks Guide.  Whether you want to play, walk, or just hang out, there's a park that's just right for you.
