This Valentine's Day, simplify your life and let the kids help you make a yummy dessert that the whole family will love. Enjoy these kid-friendly dessert hacks and Happy Valentine's Day from Lynchburg Macaroni Kid!

1. Make a Valentine's Day cake using a box mix cake and heart-shaped pans. Frost with white icing, then draw the outline of a red heart with tube icing and fill in the center heart with colored sprinkles. If you don't have heart-shaped pans, use a 13x9 pan or round cake pans instead.

2. Set up a cupcake station and let the kids decorate cupcakes with colored icing, candy sprinkles, red hots, M&Ms and other Valentine's candy to make their own works of art.

3. Make Valentine's brownies. Bake a 13x9 pan of brownies, using your favorite recipe. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the brownies into hearts. Microwave canned frosting for 1-2 minutes to make a smooth, liquid glaze. Spoon glaze over each brownie, coating top and sides. Drizzle alternate colors of glaze over the top.

4. Make Valentine's tea cakes to enjoy. Bake a 13x9 cake, using your favorite recipe. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the cake into hearts. Use chocolate glaze or melted pink or white almond bark to spoon over each cake. Decorate with assorted Valentine's candies or candy sprinkles.

5. Make Valentine's cake pops. Bake a cake in a 13x9 pan and let cool. Crumble the cake in a large bowl. Stir in a can of your favorite frosting. Mix with your hands and shape into 1-inch balls. Insert lollipop sticks if desired. Freeze for a few hours until firm. Using a toothpick, dip cake balls into melted candy bark or glaze. Sprinkle with colored sugar or chocolate bits, if desired. Let dry on waxed paper in the refrigerator until firm.

6. Turn plain marshmallows into a fancy Valentine's treat. Using a toothpick, dip marshmallows into melted candy bark or glaze, coating only half of the marshmallows. Dip the coated end into a bowl filled with candy sprinkles. Let dry on waxed paper and serve.

7. Turn any food into Valentine's Day fun. You can use a Valentine's theme for many foods during February including: pancakes, French toast, sandwiches, cheese bites, cucumbers, and more. Cut fun shapes out with a heart cookie cutter to make mealtime more fun.
