What is Lynchburg Macaroni Kid?

We make it easy for YOUR family to Find Your Family Fun® in the Lynchburg area!

By Sandy Wallace October 11, 2020

People are sometimes confused about what Lynchburg Macaroni Kid is and what we do. Macaroni Kid started 13 years ago when a woman named Joyce Shulman hit the publish button on her brand new website. The website featured local activities and events for families in Shulman's area -- and it was a BIG hit!

Since then, Macaroni Kid has grown to more than 560 hyperlocal websites and has publishers in 42 states, including YOUR LOCAL Lynchburg Macaroni Kid. Macaroni Kid is international too, with several editions in Canada. Each Macaroni Kid publisher maintains their own website and event calendar, and sends out an e-newsletter once a week. Together, Macaroni Kid publishers have more than two million subscribers.

In 2020, Macaroni Kid merged forces with CertifiKid, a nationally recognized website that offers discounts on kids activities and family experiences. This merger means that you'll find the best local content as well as deals on family-friendly attractions, events, and experiences around the country!

You can read about the merger here.

Now you know the national story of Macaroni Kid. Lynchburg Macaroni Kid has been on the scene here in Central Virginia since late 2010. I've been a proud Macaroni Kid publisher since 2011. From 2011 until today, Lynchburg Macaroni Kid has shared almost 20,000 local family-friendly events with families in Lynchburg and the surrounding counties!

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck in spring of 2020, Macaroni Kid shifted its platform to include many virtual events, both locally and nationally, as well as educational information for families. As local events begin to take place again, Lynchburg Macaroni Kid contains a mixture of local events and information and virtual events for families.

As a Macaroni Kid publisher, I find all of the best family-friendly events and activities in Lynchburg and the surrounding counties and put them all in one place, making it easy for YOUR family to Find Your Family Fun®. Then I add fun crafts and activities, local and national giveaways, seasonal information, information about local businesses, and local resources to help parents.

You'll find information you can use all year long when you click the 'guides' tab. This includes information about: local schools, preschools and childcare, area parks, indoor family fun, local apple orchards, restaurants where kids eat free, area campgrounds, after school activities and classes, and our birthday party guide. We often feature at least one of these guides on our website. You'll find many local businesses listed by category in our Business Directory

On the Lynchburg Macaroni Kid website, you'll also find seasonal holiday guides listed in the articles section and featured on our website too.
