From Christmas parades and Santa visits to Christmas Open Houses, holiday theatre and music performances, and shopping at holiday markets, there are lots of family friendly activities and events to enjoy in the Lynchburg area during the first weekend of December. Pick one, two, or a few events and Find Your Family Fun® in Lynchburg and Central Virginia this weekend!

Lynchburg Macaroni Kid Top 15+ Events

1. Go to a parade! Christmas Parades in Lynchburg and Central Virginia this weekend: Friday at 6 PM in Lexington, Friday at 6:30 PM in Amherst, Saturday at 11 AM in both Bedford and Appomattox, Saturday at 4 PM in Glasgow, Saturday at 5 PM in Altavista, Sunday at 3 PM in Rustburg, and Sunday at 4 PM in Lynchburg. 2. Visit with Santa! Check our guide for more than 20 Santa visit opportunities this weekend! Bring your phone or camera and snap some holiday pics.

3. Festival of Trees at Natural Bridge State Park - Nov. 28 - Jan. 1 at Natural Bridge State Park in Natural Bridge

4. Trees of Hope - Nov. 25 through Dec. 12 (Monday through Friday only) at Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center in Lynchburg

5. Trains Exhibit at Bedford Museum - Nov. 29 through Jan. 5 (Monday through Saturday) at Bedford Museum in Bedford

6. Go see the lights at English Meadows Elks Campus (Former Elks National Home) in Bedford! Lighting Ceremony  is on Friday at 5 p.m. and the lights and tree displays remain on each evening through Dec. 31.

7. Disney's Frozen Jr. at Lynchburg Christian Academy will be performed on Dec. 5, 7, and 12 at 7 PM; Dec. 6 and 13 at 6 PM; Dec. 8 at 3 PM. Purchase tickets in advance for this family favorite.

8. Christmas at Hydaway Outdoor Rec Center in Lynchburg is free and open to the public on Dec. 5-7 from 6-9 PM. Enjoy an outdoor walk through Christmas scenes and lights, hot cocoa and cookies, Christmas crafts and more.

9. "Miracle on 34th Street" at Brookville High School will be performed on Dec. 6 and 7 at 7 PM and Dec. 8 at 2 PM. Purchase tickets in advance for this ever-popular show.

10. Pioneer Theatre Presents "Scrooge, the Musical" at Heritage High School with performances at 7 PM on Dec. 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, and 14 and 3 PM on Dec. 15. Order tickets in advance and enjoy this event with the family.

11. Breakfast with Santa and Christmas Bazaar at Holy Cross School is a favorite Santa event in Lynchburg. Enjoy breakfast with Santa, photo opps, and shop for gifts at the Christmas Bazaar on Saturday from 8 AM - 12 PM.

12. Experience the Holidays in Appomattox on Saturday from 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Come enjoy the Artisan Market, Santa's Village, Parade, Living History, food and live music.

13. Christmas in Centertown Bedford takes place on Saturday from 3 PM - 6 PM. From Santa visits and live music to carriage rides and a holiday scavenger hunt, there's fun for the entire family.

14. 37th Annual Christmas Open House at Point of Honor on Sunday from 12-4 PM and the Holiday Open House at Old City Cemetery on Sunday from 1-5 PM take you back in time to Christmas past. Both events are very popular with local families.

15. Enjoy holiday music! University of Lynchburg Christmas in the Chapel on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM; Jefferson Choral Society Presents "A Magnificent Season" on Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 4 PM; "The Cool Yule Holiday Cabaret 2019" at Jefferson Forest Cavalier Theatre on Dec. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14 at 7 PM and Dec. 8, 15 at 3 PM; Holiday Pops and Vespers Service at Sweet Briar College on Sunday at 6 PM; and Christmas Vespers at Randolph College on Sunday at 7:30 PM will all help you get into the Christmas spirit!

BONUS EVENTS: LIVE Nativity in Appomattox at Courtland Festival Park on Saturday from 6-7 PM and Christmas Open House and Santa at Brightwell's Mill in Madison Heights on Sunday from 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM.
