About The Publisher: Sandy Wallace

I moved to Lynchburg many years ago and enjoy all there is to offer here. My children were born and raised here and now have kids of their own. There are tons of activities in the Lynchburg area for families to enjoy. Lynchburg's moderate climate means it's warm in the summer, cold in the winter, and nearly perfect in spring and fall. The snowfall isn't too severe most years and spring is especially beautiful as everything comes back to life.

The Lynchburg City parks are wonderful places to enjoy family adventures. The Blue Ridge Mountains are a short drive away and the Appalachian Trail can be accessed at various locations within a thirty minute drive. I love hiking, especially to the peak of a mountain!

Lynchburg also has a great walking and biking trail system that runs through the city beside Blackwater Creek. My favorite local walking/ hiking area is the Blackwater Creek Bikeway and Creekside Trail, located off Langhorne Road.

Our family enjoys lots of active fun including: snow tubing at Snowflex, roller skating at FunQuest Family Entertainment Center, miniature golf at Tiny Town Golf or Putt Putt Fun Center, bouncy fun at Bounce About, Jump Lynchburg or Jump-N-Fun...and did I mention hiking.

Some of our favorite local events include: Old City Cemetery's Antique Rose Festival in spring, the James River Batteau Festival and Lynchburg Hillcats baseball in summer, Day in the Park and the Virginia 10 Miler in fall and lots of holiday lights in December.

I'm glad to be a part of the Lynchburg community and to be your Macaroni Kid Mom!
