Description

Christmas 1944 on the frontlines comes to life with this unique presentation featuring re-enactors and living history displays, reminiscent of how soldiers celebrated the holidays while fighting in World War II. 

The Flames of Memory luminaria display and Christmas in Wartime at the Memorial is canceled for Friday, December 12, 2025. Flames of Memory and Christmas in Wartime will proceed as scheduled Saturday, December 13 and Sunday December 14, weather and site condition permitting. As the weather cools, we look ahead to our annual Flames of Memory display. The first weekend in December, the Memorial is illuminated by thousands of luminarias representing the 4,426 men killed in action on D-Day.
