Springtime and baseball go hand-in-hand here in Lynchburg. As Covid-19 restrictions begin to lift, the Lynchburg Hillcats prepare for their 2021 season. This year, the Hillcats will be in the newly created Low A East League - Northern Division. The Lynchburg Hillcats are the Low A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.

In every season, Lynchburg Macaroni Kid helps you keep in touch with family fun (and fun for grown-ups too!) in Lynchburg and Central Virginia. Attending a Lynchburg Hillcats game with the family is a classic part of the Lynchburg family experience.

Major League Baseball announced in February 2021 that it has taken control of affiliated minor-league baseball and shared information about the 120 affiliated minor league teams and the names and breakdowns of each sub-league at what are now four different levels.

The Lynchburg Hillcats season opener will take place at home on Tuesday, May 4 against the Fredericksburg Nationals. Opening Night will include the highly anticipated Baby Southpaw bobblehead. Giveaways for the 2021 season will be on Friday nights and include bobbleheads, t-shirts, patriotic cap, and other themed items.

This year the Hillcats will host their 30th consecutive Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. The weekend celebration at Bank of the James Stadium on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4 will be against the Delmarva Shorebirds. These games are always very popular with local families.

The final regular season home game of 2021 will be on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Hillcats' long-time rival Salem Red Sox. The 2021 full season schedule is available in printable format. All game times and a full promotional schedule for the 2021 season at Bank of the James Stadium will be announced at a later date.

Season tickets, mini-plan packages, and individual game tickets are on sale now. For tickets or more information, visit lynchburg-hillcats.com, call 434-528-1144, or visit the Bank of the James Stadium Box Office.

A spokesman for the Hillcats stated on their Facebook page that they are still in the process of determining limits on attendance this season to maintain social distancing, based on guidelines set by the governor.

As in previous seasons, Lynchburg Macaroni Kid will include all Lynchburg Hillcats home games in our calendar of events.
