July is National Parks and Recreation Month. Enjoy the great parks and trails in Lynchburg this month.
Ivy Creek Park, located at 118 Clemmons Lake Place, the city's newest park, was dedicated in 2011. Ivy Creek isn't a busy park like Peaks View, Riverside and Miller Parks.
Ivy Creek Park is all about getting back to nature. From the small nature-themed play area to the fishing lake and wooded trails, you'll be surrounded by nature.
There's also a paved trail that goes down to the lake and a sidewalk that circles the parking area and runs beside Clemmons Lake Place.
Down near the lake, there are porta-potties and picnic tables. Canoe and kayak rentals are available on summer weekends.
You can fish from the banks of Clemmons Lake or from Discovery Pier. Clemmons Lake is a catch and release lake.
To get to Ivy Creek Park, turn off Route 221 into the Lynchbpin Industrial Park between the Sheetz and fire station and follow the signs to Ivy Creek Park.
Stay close to home and check out Ivy Creek Park this summer! Whether you hike in the woods, fish in the lake, rent a kayak or canoe, or just hang out, you'll love the scenic views!
