Open Play Areas

FunQuest Family Entertainment Center, 327 Graves Mill Road, offers roller skating, inline skating, laser tag, arcade and video games and PlayQuest - an indoor playground for kids ages 10 and under. Open Skate hours are from 4-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 4-10 p.m. on Fridays, 10-10 on Saturdays and 1-6 on Sundays. Specials include Monday Night Madness with $2 attractions, specially priced Unlimited Family Fun Packs on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and Token Thursdays with 12 tokens included with unlimited fun pack. Putt-Putt Fun Center, 8105 Timberlake Road, offers 36 Holes of Putt-Putt Golf, Multi-Level Laser Tag, Go-Karts, Bumper Boat and Bumper Car Rides, a large indoor family arcade and five Batting Cage Stations with both Baseball and Softball. Putt-Putt is open Sunday through Thursday from 12-9 PM, Fridays from 12-11 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM-11 PM. Bounce About of Lynchburg, 3405 Candlers Mountain Road, offers indoor fun with a variety of inflatables for kids ages 12 and under. Bounce About also has a special toddler play area for kids ages 3 and under. Bounce About is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM-8 PM and Sundays from 11 AM-7 PM. Jump Lynchburg Trampoline Park, 3700 Candlers Mountain Road Jump Lynchburg is a 10,000 square foot indoor trampoline park open to all ages. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Jump Lynchburg features over 50 trampolines, foam jumping pits, basketball goals, and dodgeball court. Open jump hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 3-9 PM, Wednesdays and from 12-10 PM, Fridays from 2-11 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM-11 PM, and Sundays from 12-8 PM. Your little one will enjoy Jumping Beans, special toddler jump sessions held from 10-12 on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There's also a Special Needs Jump session held on Thursdays from 4-6 PM, Homeschool Jump on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12-2 PM, College Night on Thursdays from 8-10 PM, and Jump Fit on Tuesdays from 9-10 PM. Kids Cove, 1 Mountain View Road, is a free ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church with indoor play areas for children up to age 10. Kids will enjoy running, climbing, crawling and sliding in the treehouse themed play area at Kids Cove. There's a special toddler area for the little ones. Bring snacks to eat at the tables outside Kids Cove. Posted hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays; however, they are closed during some school and church events. A parent or guardian must remain inside while the kids play. Kids Cove is also a great place for birthday parties (which are also free), but plan far ahead because they book up quickly.

Rise Up Climbing, 1225 Church Street, is Central Virginia's premier indoor climbing gym with more than 6000 square feet of climbable surface. Rise Up offers a basic skills class for new climbers and there's also a Saturday Pay Per Climb option. Minimum ages for rope climbing is 3 years and children must weight at least 30 pounds. Rise Up also offers various recreational and competitive climbing teams for ages 3 and up. Check the website for information about memberships, summer and winter camps, and birthday parties.

Amazement Square, 27 Ninth Street, is Lynchburg's children's museum and offers hands-on fun and learning for all ages. Amazement Square is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Family Fun Night is held on the second Saturday of each month with reduced admission fees from 4-7 p.m. At Amazement Square, you'll enjoy four floors and nine galleries of exhibitions. Some family favorites include: The Big Red Barn, where you can learn all about farm life; Shipwreck Cove, a special pirate themed area for children up to age 36 months; On the James, where you can float miniature batteaux down a model of the James River and play inside a real batteau; Imagination Studio, a hands-on art studio; and Amazement Tower, one of the tallest climbing structures in the nation which connects all four floors and includes a kid-sized zip line. Bowling

AMF Bowling, 4643 Murray Place, offers anytime fun on 40 all-star lanes, an arcade, billiards tables, and laneside food service for all ages. AMF Lynchburg is open Monday and Tuesday from 4-11 PM, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 AM-11 PM, Friday from 4 PM-1 AM, Saturday from 10 AM-1 AM, and Sunday from 12-11 PM. Fort Hill Bowling Center, 6015 Fort Avenue, offers open bowling and league bowling. Fort Hill Bowling Center is open Mondays from 3-11 PM, Tuesdays 9:30 AM-11 PM, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11-11, Fridays from 9:30 AM-11 PM, Saturdays from 11-11, and Sundays from 3-9 PM. Visit Monday through Thursday after 5 PM for the Open Bowling Special of three games plus shoe rental for $10 per person.

More Skating

LaHaye Ice Center, 1971 University Boulevard, opened in January 2006. Although the LaHaye Ice Center is located on the campus of Liberty University, it is utilized greatly by the community. The LaHaye Ice Center offers a variety of skating activities, which include public skating, learn to skate lessons, youth and adult hockey where all skate levels are welcome. Public skate hours vary, so check the website for the complete calendar of events.

Liberty Mountain Skate Park, 3700 Candlers Mountain Road, is located in the rear of Candlers Station behind Cici's Pizza. To get there, drive around the Liberty Mountain Conference Center and continue behind the shopping center until you reach the skatepark. The park is great for skaters and riders at every skill level, with ramps, bowls, rails, boxes and more. There's also a beginner section upstairs for those who are just learning! This area features a 2' mini ramp with a roll-in option. Helmets must be worn at all times. Hours of operation are: Tuesday - Friday: 3:00pm - 9:00pm, Saturday: 12 noon - 10:00pm, and Sunday: 2:00pm - 8:00pm. Cost is $3 per person for 1 hour / $10 per person all day. Guests 15 years of age or younger must have an adult 18 years of age or older present to sign a liability waiver.

Escape Rooms

Locked Up Lynchburg, 117 Goldenrod Place in Wyndhurst, is an escape room, that offers a live interactive game experience in which your group must find the clues and solve the mysteries in order to escape the room. General admission price is $18. Public hours are: Fridays from 5:45 PM-12 AM, Saturdays from 12 PM-12AM, and Sundays from 2:45 -8:00 PM. Private parties are also available outside normal public hours.

One Way Out, 2264 Lakeside Drive, is a real-life escape room in Lynchburg, VA. We offer several exciting scenarios that "lock" guests in a room with only one way out - discover the clues, solve the puzzles, and work together to escape the room within 60 minutes. Participants must be 8 years or older. Admission price is $18. Public hours are Wednesdays from 2-6:30 PM, Thursdays and Fridays from 4-10:30 PM, Saturdays from 11:30 AM-10:30 PM, and Sundays from 1:00-7:30 PM. Private parties are also available outside normal public hours.

The Nature Zone, 301 Grove Street, is operated by Lynchburg Parks and Recreation and located on the first floor of the Miller Center. The Nature Zone is an environmental education center that offers a world of FREE fun and excitement for all ages. Check out The Nature Zone on Fridays and Saturdays from 12-4 PM.

Lynchburg Museum, 901 Court Street, has over 25,000 objects ranging from antique toys to quilts and from Civil War artifacts to thousands of historic photographs. The Mission of the Lynchburg Museum System is to collect, interpret, and preserve the history and material culture of Lynchburg and surrounding area. Admission to the Lynchburg Museum is free for all visitors. The Lynchburg Museum at the Old Court House is open to visitors everyday except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Hours are: Monday - Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday noon to 4pm.

Point of Honor, 112 Cabell Street, stands on a tract cleared from the wilderness where Monacan Indians once camped. Point of Honor was originally built for Dr. George Cabell, Sr. and has been home to some of 19th century Virginia’s most remarkable citizens. Point of Honor is operated by the Lynchburg Museum System and is open to visitors everyday except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Point of Honor is open for tours Monday - Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday noon to 4pm.
