Start your 4th of July holiday morning with these easy to make red, white, and blue pancakes. They're simple and quick, fun to eat, and the kids will love helping you make them.
You will need:
Pancake mix
Red and blue food coloring - we used Kroger food color
Small bowls for each color
Griddle or frying pan
Red, white, and blue sprinkles, optional
Mini chocolate chips, optional
Whipped cream, optional
Strawberries and blueberries, optional
Directions:
1. Mix pancake batter in large bowl according to directions on package.
2. Preheat griddle or pan.
3. Divide batter equally into three small bowls. Add 8-10 drops of red food coloring to one bowl of batter and 8-10 drops of blue food coloring to another bowl of batter and mix well.
4. Pour or spoon 6-8 circles of batter onto hot griddle or into heated pan. We use an ice cream scoop to make small pancakes.
5. Sprinkle pancakes with chocolate chips and/ or red, white, and blue sprinkles.
6. Cook pancakes until bubbles form on edges, then flip.
7. Cook pancakes briefly on other side, then remove to serving plate. Repeat until all batter is used.
Serve pancakes with butter and syrup or use strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream if you prefer. Patriotic 4th of July pancakes are a great start to your 4th of July holiday!
