Find Your Family Fun at Bedford County Parks

Plan ahead for a winter getaway, spring break, summer fun, or a weekend adventure in Bedford County

No matter what the season, it's the perfect time to explore the area's parks. This week's focus is on the Bedford County parks. A short drive from Lynchburg will bring you to these family fun parks. Plan ahead for a winter getaway, spring break, summer fun, or a weekend adventure in Bedford County. 

Falling Creek Park, located at 1257 County Farm Road in Bedford, offers playgrounds, BMX bike course, 36-hole disc golf course, trails, and one of the best skateboard parks on the East Coast. Picnic shelters (available first come, first served) may be rented for half day or full day. Half day rental rates are $15-$25 for Bedford County residents and $25-$35 for non-residents. Full day rental rates are $40-$80 for Bedford County residents and $50-$100 for non-residents. Print application for shelter rentals or visit the Bedford County Parks & Recreation office, which is adjacent to Falling Creek Park. 

Edmund Street Park, located at 516 Edmund Street in the Town of Bedford, offers a playground, basketball court, soccer field, tennis court, picnic tables and areas, a covered pavilion, and restrooms. Pavilion may be rented through Bedford Recreation and Parks. Please call 540-587-6061 for more details or print application for shelter rental.

Moneta Park, located on Rucker Road in Moneta, offers a picnic shelter, disc golf course, ball fields, playground, and a 5K cross country course. This quiet park is perfect for family outings.

Liberty Lake Park, located at 939 Burks Hill Road in the Town of Bedford, offers a fishing lake (license required), playgrounds, picnic areas, picnic shelters, walking trails, skateboard area, tennis court, volleyball area, and baseball fields. Shelters may be rented for $30 per day through Bedford Recreation and Parks. Please call 540-587-6061 for more details or print application for shelter rental

Montvale Park, located adjacent to Montvale Elementary School on Route 460, features 7+ miles of single track wooded biking and walking trails, open fields, soccer fields, and a picnic shelter. This quiet park is a great place to get back to nature.

Greenwood Park, located at 804 Greenwood Street in the Town of Bedford, offers a playground, basketball court, and picnic tables.

Reynolds Park, located at 1110 East Main Street in the Town of Bedford, offers walking trails, picnic areas, and picnic shelters. The walking trails are especially pretty in the spring.

Wharton Garden, located at 309 N. Bridge Street in Bedford, between the Bower Center for the Arts and the Bedford Public Library, isn't an actual park, but it's a fun place for families. Wharton Garden includes the Children's Literacy Garden, made up of several vignettes with an Alice in Wonderland theme, the Reading Walk, Pollinator Garden, Playhouse, a pergola, and performance stage.
