Lynchburg Macaroni Kid Top 15 Events
1. Visit an area pumpkin patch in Central Virginia. This is your last weekend to enjoy most of the area's pumpkin patches. Yoders' Farm Fall Festival in Rustburg is open Tuesday through Saturday through Nov. 2 (UPDATED closed Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 due to heavy rain), White Fall Farm in Gretna is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Nov. 3; and Layman Family Farms Fall Festival in Blue Ridge is open Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 9.
2. 60th Annual Pancake Jamboree takes place on Friday from 6 AM - 7 PM at Lynchburg City Armory. The Exchange Club of Lynchburg hosts this popular event. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets at the door are cash only. Kids 4 and under are free. Buy your tickets in advance from any Exchange Club member, all Bank of the James Branches, Lynchburg True Value, or Lynchburg Visitor Information Center.
3. First Fridays in Lynchburg takes place on Friday from 5 PM - 8 PM at the Academy Center of the Arts, Lynchburg Art Club, Riverviews Art Space, various galleries, and Lynchburg Museum.
4. Lynchburg CASA Superhero Run takes place on Saturday at 8 AM at Percival's Island. Superhero costumes for both the 5k run and walk and children’s 1 mile events are encouraged. The 1 mile children's fun run is open to children 12 and under only. ONE parent per child may run with their small children without paying for a second registration in the fun run only. There will be multiple races after the 5K event. Proceeds benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Central Virginia.
5. The Hill City Handmade Holiday Market takes place on Saturday from 8 AM - 3 PM in the Urban Arts Garage on Commerce Street in Lynchburg. Head to the 2019 Holiday Market and kick off the holiday season with handmade goodness. Early bird ticket holders only from 8-10 AM with general admission after 10 AM.
6. Apple Butter Making at Saunders Brothers takes place Saturday from 9 AM - 5 PM at Saunders Brothers in Piney River. Take home a warm jar of apple butter cooked over a crackling wood fire. Hang around for live music with Kim and Jimbo 11-3.
7. Pre-K Fall Festival and Bazaar takes place on Saturday from 9 AM - 1 PM at Timberlake Christian Schools in Forest. There will be vendors, a silent auction, games for the kids, inflatables, and much more at this family-friendly event.
8. 11th Annual Craft Fair takes place on Saturday from 9 AM - 2 PM at Heritage United Methodist Church in Lynchburg. Local crafters and direct sales representatives will be offering holiday gifts, home decor, art, photography, jewelry, knitted/crocheted items and much more! Do some early Christmas shopping! Light breakfast items and a full lunch are also available.
9. Homeschool First Craft and Vendor Fair takes place on Saturday from 9 AM - 2 PM at Chestnut Hill United Methodist in Lynchburg. Vendors and crafters of all kinds come and sell their wares, so get a jump on holiday shopping.
10. Beulah Baptist Church Fall Festival takes place on Saturday from 10 AM - 2 PM at Beulah Baptist Church in Lynchburg. Come on out and celebrate fall with food, games, music, and just all around fun!
11. Bluegrass, Barbecue and Brew Festival takes place on Saturday from 10 AM - 5 PM at Patrick Henry's National Red Hill Memorial in Brookneal. Stroll the beautiful grounds of Red Hill while enjoying the live music. Barbecue will be available from local restaurants. Shop with artisan and craft vendors. Self-guided tours of Patrick Henry’s home, law office and other historical buildings will be offered throughout the day. Children 12 and under are free of charge.
12. Buena Vista Spooktacular -- takes place on Saturday from 4:30 PM - 6 PM in downtown Buena Vista -- date changed to Nov. 1 Join us Downtown Buena Vista for Spooktacular - a fun and safe atmosphere for children and families of Buena Vista and neighboring communities. Due to the weather forecast, all Halloween activities, including trick or treating door to door, has been changed from Oct. 31 to to Friday, November 1, 2019. There will not be any games or costume contest. Trick or treating only!
13. Daylight Saving Time Ends on Sunday morning at 2 AM. Set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed on Saturday night and who knows, maybe the kids will sleep in too.
14. Sunday Funday at Amazement Square takes place on Sunday from 1 PM - 5 PM at Amazement Square in Lynchburg. Head to Amazement Square on the first and third Sundays of the month and enjoy $5 admission per person to the museum.
15. Bedford Community Orchestra Fall Concert takes place on Sunday at 3 PM at the former Bedford Middle School in Bedford. Come out and enjoy live orchestral music with the Bedford Community Orchestra. Donations are accepted.
