Every summer, many Central Virginia children and teens look forward to 4-H Summer Camp at Holiday Lake, located in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Virginia Gov. Northam's restrictions, on-site summer camps have been cancelled at Holiday Lake.
However, area kids and their families can still enjoy all of the fun of summer camp in the comfort of their own homes. Holiday Lake Summer Camp at Home offers all the resources for kids and their families for free. You can purchase a camp t-shirt or donate online to support the 4-H program at Holiday Lake.
You can register each camper, teen, or adult at this link for one week or all ten weeks. Please register in advance so you can receive links for specific programs like campfires, talent shows, and other fun activities Each week the camp will also offer crafts, sponsored by a local small business.
You can learn more about each camp week's program at the links below.
The weekly camp topics are:
June 22-26: Cloverbud Adventure
Looking for family camping opportunities for later in the season? Most area campgrounds usually open for the season in March, although some also offer winter camping. However, the 2020 camping season will be very different due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Check out the Lynchburg VA Area Campground Guide 2020 for information about local national park, state park, and private campgrounds. Many of these campgrounds are scheduled to open for the season on the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
As we maneuver our way to a new normal after the "Covid Captivity" of Virginia's stay-at-home order is behind us, we're all looking forward to better days ahead!
