Are you ready for some indoor family fun in Lynchburg? There are many places in Lynchburg for families to enjoy a day of fun, spend time learning, or hold a birthday party or special event.

Open Play Areas

Amazement Square, 27 Ninth Street, is Lynchburg's children's museum and offers hands-on fun and learning for all ages. At Amazement Square, you'll enjoy four floors, 10 permanent exhibitions, and a changing gallery. Amazement Square offers special events as well as activities that are included with admission on specific days. Check the website for information about all of the exhibitions, annual memberships, and birthday parties.

AJ Skateworld, 460 Old Courthouse Road, Appomattox, offers roller skating, inline skating, arcades, games, and more. Spectating parents are admitted free. Get Air Lynchburg Trampoline Park, 3700 Candlers Mountain Road Get Air Lynchburg is a 10,000 square foot indoor trampoline park open to all ages. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Get Air Lynchburg features over 50 trampolines, foam jumping pits, basketball goals, and dodgeball court. Jump times fill up quickly, so fill out your waiver and register online to avoid waiting in line. Check the website for information about hours, prices, or to book birthday parties. 

Kids Cove, 1 Mountain View Road, is a free ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church with indoor play areas for children up to age 10. Kids will enjoy running, climbing, crawling and sliding in the treehouse themed play area at Kids Cove. There's a special toddler area for the little ones. Bring snacks to eat at the tables outside Kids Cove. Kids Cove is also a great place for birthday parties (which are also free), but plan far ahead because they book up quickly. 

Putt-Putt Fun Center, 8105 Timberlake Road, offers both indoor and outdoor attractions including: 36 Holes of Putt-Putt Golf, Multi-Level Laser Tag, Go-Karts, Bumper Boat and Bumper Car Rides, a large indoor family arcade and Batting Cage Stations with both Baseball and Softball. Rise Up Climbing, 1225 Church Street, is Central Virginia's premier indoor climbing gym with more than 6000 square feet of climbable surface. Rise Up offers a basic skills class for new climbers and there's also a Saturday Pay Per Climb option. Minimum ages for rope climbing is 3 years and children must weight at least 30 pounds. Rise Up also offers various recreational and competitive climbing teams for ages 3 and up. Check the website for information about memberships, summer and winter camps, and birthday parties.

River Ridge Mall, 3405 Candlers Mountain Road has a free Children's Play Area with a sea theme in the center of the mall, near J.C. Penney. In addition, River Ridge Kids Club with SeaQuest is a free, fun, and educational children’s program for ages 3 – 5, held the last Thursday of every month in the Center Court.

The Pink Flamingo Play Café, 14805 Forest Road, Ste 101 in Forest, is the Lynchburg area's newest place for indoor play. The Pink Flamingo is a coffee shop and children's play area which features a climbing structure, train table, dinosaur table, and a large slide structure suitable for children of all ages. There's also multiple child-sized themed play stations, including a diner, hospital, police station, supermarket, hot rod shop, and more, each with toys and props for children to enjoy make believe free play. The play cafe is geared to children ages six months to eight years, their parents and caregivers. The coffee shop is for all ages. Aquarium

SeaQuest Lynchburg, 3405 Candlers Mountain Road, is Lynchburg's only aquarium. At SeaQuest, guests can enjoy adventures through rainforests, deserts and the depths of the seas. With exciting exhibits and activities for families and children of all ages, guests can get wet with the stingrays, feed birds and reptiles, marvel at the sharks, take selfies with the snakes and much more. Arcade Games

Super Rad Arcade Bar, 58 9th Street, is a new arcade room in Lynchburg where gamers of all ages can play vintage arcade and pinball games. One low price provides all day arcade play at Super Rad, which is open to all ages until 9 PM. After 9 PM, only those ages 18 and older are permitted. There are classic arcade games like Pacman, Mario Brothers, Galaga, and many more, as well as a few pinball machines. Check the website for information about hours, memberships, and special events.

Bowling

AMF Bowling, 4643 Murray Place, offers anytime fun on 40 all-star lanes, an arcade, billiards tables, and laneside food service for all ages. Bumper guards and bowling ramps are available to make it easier for kids. Visit the website for information about bowling leagues and birthday parties.

Crafts

All Fired Up Lynchburg, 18478 Forest Road in Forest, is a paint your own pottery studio. Guests can choose from a wide selection of dishware, home goods, figurines, and seasonal items. After you paint your piece, you leave it to be glazed. Your pottery will be ready to pick up one week after painting. In addition to scheduled events, pottery painting parties are available for ages 6 and up. To book a party, you may either call the studio at 434-385-8223 or stop by the store.

Imagination Station Studio brings the fun to you! Although the brick and mortar location has closed, Imagination Station offers private painting parties at your home, church, or organization. Visit the website for more details. 

Skating

LaHaye Ice Center, 1971 University Boulevard, opened in January 2006. Although the LaHaye Ice Center is located on the campus of Liberty University, it is utilized greatly by the community. The LaHaye Ice Center offers a variety of skating activities, which include learn to skate lessons, youth and adult hockey where all skate levels are welcome. Public skate hours vary, so check the website for the complete calendar of events.

Perfect Spots for Teens and Tweens

Blue Ridge Axe Throwing, 2309 Mayflower Avenue, is Lynchburg's indoor axe throwing venue and party center. You can try a variety of axes and other throwing utensils and there are coaches to help you perfect your throw. Participants must be 12 years or older during public throwing hours and for league play. You must wear closed toed shoes in order to throw.

One Way Out, 2264 Lakeside Drive, is a real-life escape room in Lynchburg, VA. We offer several exciting scenarios that "lock" guests in a room with only one way out - discover the clues, solve the puzzles, and work together to escape the room within 60 minutes. Participants must be 8 years or older. Private parties are also available outside normal public hours.

The Nature Zone, 301 Grove Street, is operated by Lynchburg Parks and Recreation and located on the first floor of the Miller Center. The Nature Zone is an environmental education center that offers a world of FREE fun and excitement for all ages. Admission is free. Check the website for hours and information about parties.

Lynchburg Museum, 901 Court Street, has over 25,000 objects ranging from antique toys to quilts and from Civil War artifacts to thousands of historic photographs. The Mission of the Lynchburg Museum System is to collect, interpret, and preserve the history and material culture of Lynchburg and surrounding area. Admission to the Lynchburg Museum is free for all visitors. 

Point of Honor, located at 112 Cabell Street, stands on a tract cleared from the wilderness where Monacan Indians once camped. Point of Honor was originally built for Dr. George Cabell, Sr. and has been home to some of 19th century Virginia’s most remarkable citizens. Point of Honor is operated by the Lynchburg Museum System. Point of Honor house, hearth kitchen, and grounds are open for guided tours during special events and at specific times during the year. The grounds of Point of Honor are open daily from dawn to dusk. Visit the website for additional information.
