Join Lynchburg Parks and Recreation as we light up Riverside Park for the second annual Celebration of Lights! This free, family-friendly attraction will open nightly from 5:00pm–9:00pm, December 1, 2017, through January 1, 2018, and will include light displays from various Lynchburg businesses and organization as you drive through Riverside Park. The theme for this year’s Celebration of Lights is “Lynchburg Winter Wonderland.” Lynchburg businesses, schools, and organizations are all encouraged to submit a light display that represents our beautiful Hill City. The deadline for display submissions is November 1, 2017.
Celebration of Lights is FREE to attend and will be held at Riverside Park, from 5:00pm–9:00pm nightly, December 1 through January 1. This is a drive-through event, with exception of the specialty event nights on 12/7, 12/14, and 12/21.
Schedule of Events
There will be four special event nights. On December the 1st, the Celebration of Lights will kick off with a Grand Opening celebration, featuring food trucks and festive music, while Parks and Recreation staff distributes holiday wishes to the riders. December 7th is Pedestrian Night allowing the community to walk through Riverside Park and slowly take in the ambiance of lit displays. December 14th hosts a Glow Ride encouraging cyclists to decorate their bikes and ride through the park. December 21st is a magical night with hot cocoa, horses, and carriage rides hosted by Lexington Carriage Company. Sip on a cup of hot chocolate, and sink into the experience.
