Lynchburg Museum presents First Fridays
As part of March’s First Friday Lynchburg Museum will open the first part of its new exhibit, We the Women: Commemorating 100 Years of the 19th Amendment. Part I, titled “The Battle for Ratification,” introduces the women’s suffrage (or voting rights) movement in America and highlights the work of Lynchburg’s two leading suffragists, mother and daughter Elizabeth Langhorne Lewis and Elizabeth Otey.
The year 2020 is the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gives women the right to vote. The Battle for Ratification is the first part of a year-long series of art and history installations coming to the Lynchburg Museum commemorating this anniversary. Three other parts will open to the public beginning this summer and continuing through the end of 2020. We the Women: Commemorating 100 Years of the 19th Amendment will be on display through March 2021.

First Fridays at Vector Space is sponsored by The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation. Each month we offer a free and family-friendly activity. Learn new skills, see demonstrations, and meet other makers on the first Friday of the month, 5-8pm. For other First Friday happenings, check out Downtown Lynchburg Association.
