Registration is open for the Healthy Kids Running Series, a five week running series for kids age 2 through eighth grade. The races are held from 3 PM - 4 PM on Sunday afternoons at Peaks View Park from Sept. 11 - Oct. 9. Lynchburg is a runner-friendly city, with many races and trails suitable for children and families to enjoy.
The registration fee covers the entire five (5) weeks of the Series which includes race bibs for each week, a runner shirt, a finisher medal and any sponsor giveaways. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferrable. Online Early Bird registration is $40.00 before Aug. 21 and then increases to $45.00 three weeks prior to the first race event. Race day walk up paper registration forms are $50.00. Top point scorers also receive a trophy based on point totals.
Preschool 2/3 year olds run the 50 yard dash;
Preschool 4/5 year olds run the 75 yard dash;
K and 1st run the 1/4 mile; 2nd and 3rd run the 1/2 mile;
4th, 5th and Middle School run 1 mile.
The Challenger race division is an inclusive all age race for children with special needs that might need a little extra help on the course. Parents/aids/volunteers are able to be on course for this division only. Our Challenger race will not be timed, 75 yard distance and all children (boys and girls) will run together.
The series continues every Sunday for five weeks. Cost is $40 for the entire series. Ages 2-8th grade.
