Altavista on Track is pleased to announce that the 13th annual Downtown Scarecrow Stroll will occur from Saturday, October 1 to Monday, October 31 in downtown Altavista. This family-friendly event is designed to increase foot traffic downtown, give additional exposure to local businesses, and provide a safe and fun way for families to get active outside.
Businesses who would like to enter a scarecrow in this year’s event can fill out an application online here. Paper applications are also available at the Altavista Town Hall. This is a free event for businesses. Applications must be submitted by September 27 and scarecrows must be set up by October 1. This event is open to all businesses within the Town of Altavista, but scarecrows must be placed in the downtown district throughout the duration of the competition. Businesses outside the downtown district who would like to participate can contact George Sandridge, Main Street Coordinator, for assistance in finding a location.
The Scarecrow Stroll will run from October 1 - October 31, and residents and visitors are invited to stroll through the downtown district and vote for their favorite scarecrows.
