The holiday season is upon us, and Clifton Forge School of the Arts (CFSOTA) invites you to join the shopping and festivities at the 12th Annual Kriskindlmarkt held Friday, November 17, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturday, November 18, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Admission is $5 for adults (please bring cash!), and children enjoy free entry. All proceeds support arts education programming at Clifton Forge School of the Arts.

This German-inspired Christmas market promises an enchanting experience filled with holiday cheer, unique shopping, delicious food and drink, live music and dance performances, visits with Santa, and weaving demonstrations, all while supporting arts education in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia.

The event offers an Appalachian mountain town’s take on a European advent market. Explore The Mill, a beautifully repurposed 100+ year-old lumber mill used for both classes and events, which will be filled with artisan vendors, German-style food & drink, and the stage for live music and dance performances. This year, the event is expanding to the main level of CFSOTA, where you'll find more artisan vendors, a Silent Auction, gift baskets of art supplies, a special weaving exhibit and children’s activity in the Gallery, CFSOTA gift certificates, and information about the creative classes offered by the School of the Arts.

What can you expect at Kriskindlmarkt? Immerse yourself in the unique offerings of talented artisan vendors, showcasing wooden bowls, cutting boards, hand-knit items, decorated gourds, bags & purses, soaps & lotions, pottery, antique tiles, jewelry, stained glass, wreaths, ornaments, candles, home decor, notecards & journals, maple syrup, handcrafted BBQ sauce, apple butter, baked goods, and so much more.

Don’t miss the delicious German-inspired food options, including bratwurst, sauerkraut, and hearty soups. We even have Gebrannte Mandeln (candied roasted almonds)! Savor holiday breads, cakes, pies & pastries, German beer & authentic Gluhwein (for ages 21+), mulled apple cider, hot chocolate, and more.

Delight in the sounds of the season with German folk music on Friday evening, dance performances on Saturday afternoon, plus local musicians, student ensembles, and community music groups throughout the event. Sing along to your favorite Christmas carols! The festive atmosphere includes a Christmas-themed model railroad display, visits with Santa, and a seasonal holiday light display starting Friday evening at dusk in the CFSOTA Garden.

Participate in the raffle for a chance to win artisan-made items and explore a wide variety of offerings in the Silent Auction. There will also be a door prize drawing for $100.
