Ahoy there fellow pirates, time travelers, knights, mermaids, astronauts, hikers, wanderers, superheroes, and other explorers, adventure awaits at your library. Join the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library for the 2024 Summer Reading Program “Adventure Begins At Your Library”! There will be reading, prizes, raffles, Fun & Craft Day, Story & Craft Time, movies and more. Rainbows, unicorns, mountains, space travel, science fiction, camping, fantasy worlds, mythology, and mysteries galore to dive into as we expand our world through reading!
Program Dates: Monday, June 3rd - Friday, July 26th
Fun & Craft Day: Wednesday, June 5th
Welcome to the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library 2024 Summer Reading Program! The theme for this year's Summer Reading Program is "Adventure Begins at Your Library." Join us this summer as we pack up our compasses & passports, travel by train, car, boat or plane and begin our adventures! Why not start at your local library?! Sign up for a library card! Adventure awaits you!
This year's program will take place in person. Visit the library to register and participate in this year's summer reading program, Adventure Begins at Your Library!
Summer Reading Age Groups:
2-5 Years of age (Purple Group) - For every 30 minutes that someone reads to you or you read on your own, you will earn a summer reading ticket.
*If you have not yet begun Kindergarten and are up to 5 years of age, you have the option to sign up for both Summer Reading and the 1,000 Things Before Kindergarten Program.
6-10 Years of age (Blue Group) - For every 30 minutes that someone reads to you or you read on your own, you will earn a summer reading ticket.
11-17 Years of age (Green Group) - For every 30 minutes that you read, you will earn a summer reading ticket.
18+ Years of age (Yellow Group) - For every 30 minutes that you read, you will earn an entry into the adult summer reading raffle.
Registration:
You can register in person at the library starting June 3rd. You must be present to be registered.
Prizes:
There will be weekly prizes for reading.
Each age group will have 1 grand prize winner (at the end of the program) per group.
Purple, Blue, and Green groups can redeem their summer reading tickets for prizes at the circulation desk. You must redeem tickets in person.
How to Earn Prizes:
30 minutes of reading will earn you a library ticket.
You can earn 3 summer reading tickets or adult summer reading raffle tickets per week.
1 summer reading ticket will "buy" you a summer reading prize.
Other Important Dates
Library closed on Wednesday, June 19th.
Library closed on Thursday, July 4th.
Last day to turn in reading logs: Friday, August 2nd. Reading logs will not be accepted after this date.
Last day to redeem tickets: Friday, August 9th. Tickets will not be accepted after this date.
