Description
James River State Park is a designated International Dark Sky park. We have been working with the International Dark Sky Association to do our part in protecting our night skies from light pollution, and we invite you to celebrate this wonderful accomplishment with us.
The James River State Park Astronomy Program will host a night sky viewing party on Oct. 5, 2024 from 8 PM - 9 PM.
Where: James River State Park, 104 Green Hill Dr., Gladstone, VA 24553 at Shelter #4/IDA viewing area
How: Our astronomy clubs will have telescopes available for an up-close view of planets and galaxies, but you may also bring your own telescope to explore these amazing wonders of the night sky with our knowledgeable staff as your guide. We will also have programs and presentations to help you find your way through the galaxy.
