Annual Altavista Christmas Parade that is held the first Saturday of December!
Christmas Parade Route Updated for Football Game
The annual Altavista Christmas Parade is a beloved tradition in the community, bringing together residents of all ages to celebrate the holiday season. This year, however, there have been some changes to the parade route to accommodate the state semifinal football game being held at Altavista Combined School on the same day.
The parade, which is set to begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, will now be staged at Staunton River Plaza in Hurt and make its way to Main Street, Altavista. The starting point will be the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Main Street. The parade will continue along Main Street and end at the former Wells Fargo office. It is important to note that Broad Street will not be included in the parade route this year.
To ensure the safety of parade participants and spectators, portions of Bedford Avenue and Main Street will be closed to traffic. It is recommended that attendees plan accordingly and arrive early to find parking in the area.
The theme of this year's parade is “Superheroes”, adding an extra element of excitement for both participants and onlookers. This year’s Grand Marshall will be Mayor Mike Mattox. The parade is being organized by the Altavista Moose Lodge and Campbell County Masonic Lodge 316.
We welcome you to spectate or participate.
