Roaring Lynchburg exhibit on display through March 31, 2025

Description

On Friday, February 7 the Lynchburg Museum will be open for First Fridays from 5pm to 7pm, showcasing the “Roaring Lynchburg: Social Life in 1925” exhibit. A short lecture will be given by the Academy Center of the Arts Archivist Bill Kershner, about popular entertainment in 1925.

Dr. Bill Kershner will give an illustrated presentation titled “Lynchburg Theaters in 1925.”

Dr. Kershner is Emeritus Professor of Theatre at Sweet Briar College, where he taught for 34 years before retiring in 2021. He now serves as Archivist for the Academy Center of the Arts. He received his Ph.D in Theatre History from the University of Southern California in 1981. He remains active in Lynchburg community theatre and is currently chair of the board of Commerce Street Theatre. He lives in Amherst with his wife, Nancy.
