Happy Thanksgiving from the Lynchburg Macaroni Kid family to your family! Thanksgiving is a perfect time to gather with family and friends, enjoy delicious food and choose gratitude for the many gifts in your life.
Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 28 in 2024. However your family decides to celebrate, Thanksgiving is all about gratitude!
Several years ago, our family created the Leaves of Gratitude (shown in Get Ready for Thanksgiving: A Gratitude Home and Gratitude Calendar) to use on our Thanksgiving table, modeled after a Pinterest idea for a gratitude tablecloth. Whether your children are toddlers, teens or somewhere between, it's important to focus on being grateful for the gifts we all enjoy: freedom, family, love, friends, teachers, education, food, books, faith and precious memories.
Parents and caregivers can choose gratitude and share the gift of gratitude with their children. Make a gratitude tree for your fridge, a gratitude tablecloth, gratitude leaves or just go around the table and let each person share one thing for which they are grateful before you eat. By focusing on the gifts we already have instead of all the stuff we want, we can all choose gratitude -- at Thanksgiving and all year long!
